DOWN THERE on the Reeperbahn the things are chan-
ging.
The famous sinful mile and red light district is turning into a living museum, where tourists are searching the old times, and politics are pushing towards modernity. Decades ago everyone could make money out of the district, today only few. The „millionaires„ from yesterday are now on the
edge of poverty.

Down there is a district of extremes, which is guided by the most primitive human drives as sex, alcohol and money. It is a hard work and a rough ground. Different people live here the same experiences what makes them feel belonging to something called family. It has nothing to do with ro-
manticism, it is shared decadence.

Down there it is like a little village whith 1000 eyes and 1000 ears, and everything works within a network and is interchangeable, the women, the money, the stories, the places. This creates the special atmosphere but slowly the people and places are dying out, and a different mood is coming up.

Down there I was searching this vanishing atmosphere and found the Safari cabaret, the Hotel Hongkong, the Bar zum Anker and the Villa Kunterbunt.
